Costers del Segre D.O.

El territori de la Costers del Segre D.O. comprèn una bona part de la província de Lleida. Estenent-se per diverses zones repartides de nord a sud, excloent-ne l’alta muntanya. El clima dominant és de tipus mediterrani molt sec i d’influència continental, amb grans contrastos de temperatura, especialment a les subzones més allunyades de la influència marina.
VITICULTURA I TERRES
A tota la zona predominen els sòls calcaris i argilosos, generalment pobres en matèria orgànica. Les vinyes se situen entre els 200-300 metres d’altitud del pla, fins a uns 700 metres a les zones muntanyoses de la Serralada Prelitoral i 1.100 metres als contraforts prepirinencs del Pallars. Els ceps més antics es disposen en got i els més moderns en espatllera.
TIPUS DE VINS
Hi predominen els negres, tant monovarietals com de barreja de varietats diverses. Cal destacar especialment la varietat Picapoll negre, del qual se’n fan vins d’una qualitat excepcional. En blanc tant monovarietals com de barreja de varietats diverses (una excepció remarcable és l´Olivera Cooperativa, especialitzada en l´elaboració de vins blancs i que també fa vins escumosos).
